Austin City Limits Music Festival: Weekend Two – Saturday at Zilker Park

AUSTIN CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL.

In 2002, Austin City hosted their first full weekend Music Festival. Ten years later, the music festival was extended to two full weekends. Due to the Covid pandemic, the park was closed in 2019 and has only been reopened in 2023. Through steady repairs, maintenance and refurbishments, the Zilker Park now hosts community functions and events all year round. The park has an impressive eight separate performing stages, capable of accommodating twenty-eight performing bands, and although the park has a seventy-five thousand capacity rating, the music festivals and been known to accommodate very close to four hundred fifty thousand ticket holders over the three-day festival weekend. So popular has this festival become, that in 2016 and 2018, Austin City took the festival to Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia.

This might not be the cheapest music festival or the biggest in the country, but it is very much the best music festival. With a capacity crowd rating of seventy-five thousand, this festival has been known to attract an audience of four hundred fifty thousand over a full weekend of extraordinary and popular music. Twenty-eight separate stages, all geared to cater for eight different music genres at any one time, finding something exquisite to listen to cannot be too difficult. If you can wander through the crowd in an attempt to find something to eat or drink, you will find so more food courts than you can choose from, and the non-music activities generate interest from whole families and hundreds of children. 

Back to the music. It is known that all the great names, Willie Nelson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney, Guns N Roses, just to name a very few, have all had their fifteen minutes in the limelight here. Going to one of this festival is an experience that goes way beyond seeing any renowned artist(s) on stage. Of course, it's always better if you are a fan of one or any of the groups that are performing. You are bound to find other enjoyable music performed by any of the other twenty-seven bands. At this concert, you might experience something totally unexpected, that of falling in love with a band you previously did not know about, or a song you may not have heard before.
